why I am such a constant nag

I am a type 2 diabetic ... probably comes as no surprise to anyone. I am quite sure that my constant postings about diabetes and healthy nutrition irritate some people. I make no apologies. Diabetes is a horrible and widely misunderstood disease ... both type 1 and 2. My postings are intended to:
1- Educate my friends and family about the real dangers of the disease and encourage a healthy lifestyle / diet
2- Remind my diabetic friends that we have to stay on top of this disease or face dire consequences
Since you've read this far please take a moment and read on ... this is a compelling story from an internet friend whose husband ignored his diabetes:

"My husband and I have been married for 23 years. Two years into our marriage I received a call from his doctor informing me that I needed to go with him to his next appointment. The doctor informed me that my husband was diabetic and his diabetes was out of control. I was unaware of this and vowed to get as much information about his disease as I could. I changed our eating habits and tried to help him as much as I could. That didn't help! My husband would tell me that he wasn't diabetic and he did not need my help. Still I tried to do everything I could to help him, but he did not want to hear it. For the past 20 years or so he ignored his diabetes and now he ( and the family) is dealing with the long term affects of this horrible disease.
It first started with a couple of toes being removed. I remember bringing my 3 small children to visit him at the hospital. That went on for about 15 years until he had his first leg amputated. He vowed to me and our children that he would start taking care of his diabetes and he would do what ever it took to not have anymore amputations. That lasted for about a month and he was back to sneaking food and eating what ever he wanted. The second leg was amputated exactly 1 year and a month later.
Due to my husband neglecting his diabetes, he has had both legs amputated, is on dialysis 3 days a week, lost his eye sight, and has had 2 strokes. He recently had eye surgery on both eyes but it didn't work and he may not get his sight back.
Diabetes has destroyed my family financially. The cost of taking care of my husband is in the hundreds of thousands. We have lost everything including our house, our vehicles, and our good credit rating. We struggle every day.
I'm telling my story in hopes of helping others. Diabetes not only effects the diabetic but it also effects their family as well. So please, if not for yourself, take care of your diabetes for your family. It can be controlled with healthy eating, exercise, medication, and listening to your doctor."

Not a damn thing I could add to that.
